The purpose of the Steel Pipe Basic Education Course (SPBEC) is to introduce the attendee into the world of steel pipe by offering an overview of its uses and distinct language, production and certification, value added products and its final distribution concepts and methods. The purpose of the OCTG Specialty Education Course is to introduce the attendee to the use of steel pipe in the extraction of gas and oil. The production and use of Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG) are explained by introducing the student to the methods of manufacture, heat treatment, quality control, and end preparation of the pipes. Also explained is directional drilling and the fracturing processes and techniques so prevalent in the industry today.

The Steel Pipe Basic Education Course qualifies for 9.50 Professional Development hours and the OCTG Specialty Education Course qualifies for 6.50 hours. Both classes are taught in a classroom and livestreaming environment.

Business practices and ethics are included in the courses. Educational content will be revised October 2020.

Industry experts created the content based on the items steel pipe distributors need to perform their jobs effectively. A survey is taken following each session to confirm the information was taught in an effective manner.

Two tests are taken during the SPBEC and one test is taken at the end of the OCTG Specialty Education Course to assess the understanding and absorption of the content presented.
