Dear NASPD Members,
In light of the coronavirus and the upcoming initiation of registration for our June conference, Randy Hurst initiated a conference call with the NASPD Executive Committee. On that call the Executive Committee voted to cancel the Summer Conference. We notified the InterContinental Hotel in Chicago of this decision and appealed to their acceptance under the contract’s force majeure clause. We are happy to report that this morning we received confirmation from the hotel of their acceptance of the cancellation and a full refund of our deposit.
One idea that came out of the Executive Committee meeting was that the NASPD should try to create a way to conduct a virtual meeting so as pressing industry and societal challenges occur a “member discussion” can be held. We are experiencing a very unique situation and the NASPD Leadership believes the shared experiences of members discussing what they are doing to adjust to this situation will be helpful to all. Any thoughts or idea you might have on a preferred platform (currently considering Zoom & Go-To-Meeting), format and facilitator would be welcome--please contact the NASPD office at 361-574-7878.
On another note, the Executive Committee also decided that as a gesture of goodwill to the Hotel for accepting our cancellation without penalty, that we move the summer 2022 conference to Chicago and move Santa Fe to the summer of 2023.
We will send out details on a member discussion teleconference soon.
Hang in there, we are all in this together!
