The purpose of the Steel Pipe Basic Education Course (SPBEC) is to introduce the attendee into the world of steel pipe by offering an overview of its uses and distinct language, production and certification, value added products and its final distribution concepts and methods. The purpose of the OCTG Specialty Education Course is to introduce the attendee to the use of steel pipe in the extraction of gas and oil. The production and use of Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG) are explained by introducing the student to the methods of manufacture, heat treatment, quality control, and end preparation of the pipes. Also explained is directional drilling and the fracturing processes and techniques so prevalent in the industry today.

The Steel Pipe Basic Education Course qualifies for 9.50 Professional Development hours and the OCTG Specialty Education Course qualifies for 6.50 hours. Both classes are taught in a classroom environment.

Business practices and ethics are included in the courses. Educational content will be revised in October 2022.

The National Association of Steel Pipe Distributors has met the standards and requirements of the Registered Continuing Education Program. Credit earned on completion of this program will be reported to RCEP.net. Certificates of Completion will be issued to all participants via the RCEP.net online system.
