THE US GRANT is located in the heart of downtown San Diego on the outer edge of the vibrant Gaslamp Quarter District. Within a five to 15-minute walk or drive from the hotel, guests can choose from approximately 200 restaurants featuring diverse cuisines. Reservations recommended. Restaurants are often booked between the hours of 7 p.m.- 9 p.m. nightly. Smart to trendy casual attire is appropriate at most of the dining establishments downtown listed below.

THE GRANT GRILL (GASLAMP QUARTER) ATTIRE: SMART CASUAL, DRESSY) Located Lobby Level of THE US GRANT

Four Diamond, Four Star award-winning The Grant Grill serves California Market Fresh Regional Cuisine with prime meats and fresh seafood. This menu is sophisticated, full of adventure. Settings vary from power dining to romantic plush booths designed in a 1940s sophisticated, casual décor. (Private Room holds 10 people)

OSETRA (GASLAMP QUARTER)
904 Fifth Avenue

Osetra offers gourmet seafood, prime-aged meat and one of the city's most extensive collections of premium wines. Guests can enjoy watching as "Wine Angels" fly through the air to retrieve bottles from the three-story wine tower. A festive lounge atmosphere is on the ground floor. (Private Rooms hold 14 & 30 people)

THE OCEANAIRE SEAFOOD ROOM (GASLAMP QUARTER)

Oceanaire is a lively retro supper club that serves the freshest possible seafood, flown in daily. The cocktails in the lounge, to their oyster bar and a main course of ultra-fresh fish ensures an evening of good food and libations. (Private Room holds 40 people)

IRONSIDE (LITTLE ITALY)
1654 India Street

“Titanic meets Hipster” – Brooks Barding. Ironside is a trendy casual seafood option in Little Italy. They feature a fresh fish menu which changes weekly and a rotating variety of oysters. The restaurant is also known for their lively bar seen. Ironside is also open for lunch and dinner daily.

BLUE POINT (GASLAMP QUARTER)
565 Fifth Avenue

The first seafood and oyster bar in the Gaslamp Quarter is reminiscent of a San Francisco supper club. The rich cherry wood interior, complemented by polished brass railings and comfortable black leather booths, exudes an informal sophistication. Blue Point offers a first class dining experience featuring unique fresh seafood, prime steaks and rack of lamb. (No Private Room)

Greystone features prime-aged meats, fresh seafood and house-made pastas in an elegant atmosphere. Greystone also features a wine collection that has won Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence since 1999. Built in the historic Bijou Theatre in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter, its multi-level dining room is perfect for romantic dining or corporate entertaining. (Private Room holds 16 people)


DONOVAN’S (GASLAMP QUARTER)

Donovan’s provides fine dining excellence with a classic, stylist, lively atmosphere. Originating in San Diego, this classy restaurant serves USDA Prime Steaks and market fresh seafood and received the Best of Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator. (Private Rooms hold 24 & 40 people)

COWBOY STAR (EAST VILLAGE)
640 Tenth Avenue

Cowboy Star is the first restaurant in San Diego’s East Village to serve up a unique dining experience by combining contemporary American cuisine with a western flare. Winner of the 2008 Orchid Award for Interior Design, the restaurant features exposed beam ceilings‚ cowboy accents‚ and classic landscape photography giving Cowboy Star a welcoming atmosphere where locals gravitate. BORN AND RAISED (LITTLE ITALY)

No expense was spared to create this Little Italy hot spot. The modern steak house is dedicated to classic American favorites. The 10,000 square foot space feature two bars and a roof top patio. Being a popular restaurant, Born and Raised has already become one the elite reservations in the city.

Salvatore’s opened in 1987 as downtown San Diego’s premier fine dining Italian restaurant. The winner of several Food Critic Awards, Salvatore’s Old World elegance, classic and romantic atmosphere, and authentic regional cuisine is a perfect to begin your evening before wandering through the historical Gaslamp Quarter. BENCOTTO ITALIAN KITCHEN (LITTLE ITALY)

Bencotto refers to a meal cooked well. Italians tend to linger in the kitchen, where the person who cooks and those who eat alongside, create a unique sense of conviviality and belonging. Our “Bencotto kitchen” is both the center of our Italian culinary lifestyle and the epitome of superbly prepared food. Bencotto offers two different eating environments: guests can either enjoy their meal at our “kitchen-esque” bar downstairs, or they can relax in the intimate low-ceiling dining area upstairs. A San Diego favorite known for its warm service, old country cuisine with a modern flare, and vibrant upper casual ambiance decorated with rotating creations from local artists. For 14 years, this Intimate classic trattoria has been filling bellies with traditional hearty plates of pasta, grilled meat entrees and primo vino from Italy and around the world. Sustainable & local is their mantra! Featuring Gluten-free & whole grain pastas, as well as a wide variety of vegetarian items.

CIVICO 1845 (LITTLE ITALY)

Founded by two Calabrian-born brothers, this rustic Little Italy cucina puts a lighter spin on contemporary Italian fare with a menu of homemade pastas, grilled proteins and several vegan dishes backed by a mostly Italian wine list. The breezy space is lined with reclaimed-wood and decorative vintage cooking utensils, and there's a tiled bar and patio seating beneath market lights.

Gaslamp Quarter’s upscale "White Glove-World Class" sushi bar and gourmet seafood restaurant creatively combine Chinese, Japanese and continental cuisine. Taka is a small contemporary restaurant known for its sushi bar. Reservations highly suggested for this popular spot. (No Private Room)

NOBU (GASLAMP QUARTER)
440 J Street

Tokyo-born Chef Nobu Matsuhisa is known worldwide. His classic sushi bar fare and nouveau Japanese cuisine have long attracted the food elite in New York, London, Las Vegas, Milan, Tokyo, Miami and Malibu. DOBSON’S BAR & RESTAURANT (DOWNTOWN)

Dobson’s has been a landmark in downtown restaurant since 1984. This quaint, old school bar and restaurant’s service is friendly and professional with many corporate locals relaxing after a long day of work. Its American menu offers their famous Mussel Bisque. (Semi Private balcony holds 42 people)

SEARSUCKER (GASLAMP QUARTER)

Searsucker serves New American Classic cuisine, emphasizing approachable and unpretentious dishes paired with local craft beer, handcrafted cocktails and a selection of one-of-a-kind wines from all over the world. This is one of San Diego’s trendy hot spots, advanced reservation strongly suggested. (Private Room holds 30 people)

MISTER A’S (BANKERS HILL)

JUNIPER AND IVY (LITTLE ITALY)

Juniper and Ivy is described as “Refined American Food with a Left Coast Edge”. Tope Chef All Stars Winner Richard Blias and his team offer excellent cocktail and wine programs in a modern, high energy design. This has become a destination restaurant in North Little Italy for locals and visitor alike.

HERB & WOOD (LITTLE ITALY)

Celebrity Chef Brian Malarkey and chef de cuisine Shane McIntyre (ex-Searsucker, Green Acre) are focusing on proteins and vegetables from their wood oven. So a heavily roasted menu. They’ll do their own dry-aged meat program. They’ll make their own pizza dough and baked goods on site each day.
